RE: Its here 1/2 ton Shootout!

I always sort of considered the F-150 to be a pickup truck for somebody who didn't really need a pickup truck. bumpy :p LOL, I know exactly what you mean. I always figured a Chevy pickup was something you bought your wife to take grocery shopping, the last truck GM built was in 1972 and I’m still waiting for Dodge to build their first truck.:) I strongly disagree with above bold type........ http://www.vintagemilitarytrucks.com/M1008's%20CUCV%20Chevrolet%20Lot.jpg Until just very recently NO pick-up truck was ever made that had a more stout frame/drivetrain combo than the 1977~1986 K-30, and 1987~1991 V3500s. :) These trucks were so stout that the 1984 Chevy M1008 CUCV was actually rated as a 1 1/4 ton. Hard to beat the pick-up that won the Cold War. :) To this day the 1977~1991 Chevy/GMC Dana60 front axles and GM 14-bolt rear axles are the most sought after axles for serious off-roading. :R GM is not the only 4x4 that had Dana 60 front axles. I'm sure they were "low bid".

RE: Day Night Shades

You have more control of light and privacy with blinds than you do shades, it's all a personal preference. We have 1" aluminum blinds in the trailer and we are going to replace them with 2" aluminum blinds with "decorative tapes", "vintage".:W You can also buy 1" wood blinds but they're pricey and not as noisy while traveling as the aluminum blinds. We are going to add a couple more of the blackout honeycomb shades on a few windows where the aluminum blinds don’t work.

RE: brakes squealing?????

The premium grade pads are usually "harder" than the softer lesser quality pads. Sounds like we have difference in opinion what "premium pads" are. Yep, your's is just an opinion.:R

RE: brakes squealing?????

A lot of brake pads come in different grades from the best to OK. The premium grade pads are usually "harder" than the softer lesser quality pads. Theoretically the premium pads should last longer then the softer pads. The "premium" brake pads being harder will often squeal, squeak and will wear the rotors faster than the softer pads. I pick the pads in the middle, not the premium pads and not the cheep budget pads.

RE: Unloaded PSI for E Rated Tires?

I have E rated tires rated 3042 lbs @ 80 psi. My truck only weighs 5000 lbs. I run 40 psi front and rear empty and they seam to be wearing even. Loaded I run 70 psi in the rear and 65 psi in the front.

RE: New car reliablility-some suprises!

The air on the Ford I had came out of the vents at 70 degrees and I was told by the service manager that it was within spec ( 30 degrees below ambient ) it was over 100 outside. Needless to say air coming out at 70 on a 100 degree day was useless. I dumped that pig and got a GM that I tested with a digital thermometer and the air was coming out at 42 degrees. I like GM specs better than Fords. Wouldn't it have been cheeper to just have the AC re-charged? The air discharge temp on my Ford is 38 degrees on a 100 degree day. But then I didn't use a digital thermometer.
